One of our most frequently visited venues is Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa. It's a venue we know and love, especially during the summertime when the opportunity presents itself to capture some great stills and film.
We covered Heather & Paul's wedding on one of those special days in June 2019 and Heather has been kind enough to share her thoughts about the big day and discuss some of the services she booked for her wedding.
"My hair was done by Carla Foran - I first saw Carla's work on Instagram and loved the way she had done my hair on previous nights out . Carla knew exactly how I wanted my hair on the day and made me feel at ease as I am so fussy when it comes to hair . Carla had 9 hairs to do the morning of the wedding and managed to get us all ready on time - I would highly recommend Carla to anybody looking for a hairstylist".
Make up was done by Lisa Kirwan Makeup - "I booked Lisa for all of our make ups on the day as I love her make up especially bridal make up. By the date of our wedding Lisa was around 9 months pregnant and still continued with our booking, doing all 8 of our make ups the morning of the wedding and still managed to make us look glam even on the hottest day in June".
Wedding dress was purchased from Boutique Brides of Crosby - "When I attended the bridal shop, myself and my mum were made to feel so welcome by all the staff and it had such a lovely atmosphere. There was no pressure at all to purchase my wedding dress when trying on dresses and then after a few try ons I found my wedding dress. Such brilliant staff that I would highly recommend".
Bridesmaids dresses were purchased from Jarlo London - "We chose these bridesmaid dresses as they was exactly what we were looking for and were within our wedding budget. The customer service team were brilliant with any questions I had about dresses and even managed to give me 30% discount on all 6 dresses!"
Groom and Ushers suits were from Moss Bros - "We decided to get the suits from Moss Bros as we had heard some great reviews about them and wanted Tuxedos for all of the men. We would also recommend this company for anybody looking for suits to buy or hire".
Our wedding rings were from Diamond Heaven in Birmingham - We chose this jewellers as we found them the best for value for money.
Our flowers were from Red Events Creative - We chose to use Red Events Creative for both flowers and table decorations. We found Clair at the Northwest Wedding Show and arranged a consultation soon after and fell in love with her work. I visioned how I wanted all our flowers for the big day to look and Clair created them exactly how I imagined them! Clair was just brilliant from start to finish and was such a pleasure to work with.
Our Venue dressers were The Wedding Rooms who are based in Formby - We used The Wedding Rooms as we had previously seen their venue dressing at Formby Hall and they were highly recommended by the venue.
We booked Violin Around for the ceremony and drinks reception. We found Adam on Instagram and loved his music. He was such a great addition to our wedding, especially him performing whilst I walked down the isle. All of our guests loved him".
They also booked the Singing Waiters - "Such brilliant entertainment for all of our guests, especially as the guests didn’t know about them until the act".
Girl on Sax was booked for the evening - "May was amazing and she performed at our evening reception. She made an appearance during our first dance and had all our guests up dancing!"
"We booked Jeff Wood to be our DJ. We first met Jeff at Formby Hall and he was recommended by our venue so we booked him in. He was brilliant all night and he had our guests up dancing song after song".
We asked Heather how they decided on choosing Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa for their wedding day.
"We went to see many venues and although this venue was a little out of our budget, the minute we stepped into Formby Hall we knew this was the venue we were going to get married at. We loved Formby Hall for all the grounds which we knew would be amazing for our photographs. Our immediate family decided to stay at the venue from Thursday to Sunday with our wedding taking place on the Friday. Throughout our stay all the staff at the venue were amazing, from the minute we checked in to check out. Our wedding co-ordinators were just brilliant throughout the planning of the big day and nothing was too much trouble at all".

"Well what can we say about you guys! We also first met you at the Northwest Wedding Show and loved your film and photography and booked you straight away. You captured the most amazing photographs from our big day and our film is brilliant, along with the teaser short film".
"You guys were so professional from start to finish too. We both love all of the images captured and the film . We have had so many compliments on our photos from all of our guests. We have recommend you to lots of our family and friends and also to my sister who has now booked you for her wedding in 2022!"
What is the best advice you would give to couples getting married?
"The best advice we would give to couples getting married would be to make sure you relax and enjoy every moment of the day. In the lead up to the wedding, it can be stressful as you want to make sure everything is perfect. But one thing I would advise is to just enjoy the day as you have worked so hard to plan it for so many months/years. As long as you are marrying the one you love, surrounded by all your family and friends then that’s all that matters".
"I would also advise on getting your wedding filmed on the big day as it’s such a nice addition to your photography. It captures all those moments which the camera may not have. We just love rewatching our film, being able to see everybody who was a part of our special day!"
