We hope you enjoyed our previous Real Weddings Feature from a few weeks ago which was all about Debbie & Robs wedding which took place at Merrydale Manor. This weeks feature is with another fantastic couple and an equally magnificent venue!
Chris & Emma's wedding took place at the beautiful Hillbark Hotel in April 2019. Not only was it memorable due to them being such a lovely couple and the wedding taking place in such an idyllic setting, but I have a couple of great memories in the lead up to the wedding. One was initially an email i received from Anna ( the Grooms mum ) close to midnight a day or so before the big day. It was just a general enquiry about the time for something and she mentioned she was currently busy making the wedding cake. I remember thinking to myself "What a great mum, working away late into the night but will be so excited for what is to come for her son and future daughter in law". The 2nd memory was an email to confirm that Lynne ( the Brides mum ) had arranged for a Shetland Pony to come down the aisle bearing the rings! Such a personal touch with Emma being passionate about horses. 2 fantastic mums, brilliant families and such a wonderful couple.
Emma looked absolutely stunning in her Sottero Midgle dress which she purchased from Aristocrats in Chester. Her hair and make up was done by Sue Hazelhurst from Salon 154 which is based in Greasby. Emma's wedding shoes were purchased from John Lewis whilst Chris purchased his from Sole Trader.
Chris hired his suits from Groom in Liverpool, based at The Wedding House. Throughout all of our Real Wedding Features, these have certainly come up frequently as one of the go to places for Grooms and Ushers. Ashleigh & Adam from a previous wedding feature spoke very highly of them. Chris and his Best Man were also collected in the venues very own Rolls Royce. That is definitely another perk to booking your wedding
at The Hillbark!
The couple done all of the venue dressing themselves. The Hillbark is an absolutely stunning venue both inside and out, so it is the kind of venue that you just need to add minimal touches to due to its beauty and character.
The couples wedding rings were purchased from Goldsmiths, Liverpool and Valentino the Shetland Pony done a sterling job of bring them down the aisle! That was definitely a first for us and what makes every wedding so unique are personal touches like that.
Flourish Flowers provided all of the bouquets & flowers for the day.
There was no need for the couple to go out and spend hundreds of pounds on a wedding cake due to the skills of the Grooms mum Anna. It's these kind of gifts from loved ones that are the ones you remember and appreciate most.
Chris & Emma made their own wedding favours which were Lindt Lindor Chocolate Eggs in small bags.
We were delighted to be chosen by the couple to be their photographers for the day. The Hillbark is a venue we know well and have covered numerous times, so it's always a treat to be asked to cover a wedding there again. They also hire our Photo Booth for the evening which always goes down well with the guests!
We asked Emma & Chris how they came about choosing the Hillbark Hotel for their special day.
"We chose the venue because it’s a stunning building full of character in a beautiful setting. Roydon park also has a special place in Emma's heart as she grew up riding her horse around the estate"
"The staff were exceptional. Incredible, friendly and welcoming. The inside of the building is elegant, full of charm, beautiful, romantic and provided an amazing ambience throughout the day and evening".
