It's been an emotional rollercoaster for the vast majority of couples over the past 6/7 months. Restrictions within the hospitality sector have left a lot of couples in limbo, with many unsure if to postpone their wedding to a later date or to go ahead with the wedding but with the day completely revised.
Emma & James were one of our couples who went ahead with their wedding with current restrictions in place. Their special day took place at the absolutely beautiful Oaktree of Peover and they have been so kind in sharing their thoughts on how the day went and how certain things differed to how it might have been on a normal wedding day.
Hair & Make-Up Preparations
"My make up artist Faye Kenyon and hair stylist Vicky M Hair both had to wear masks during preparations. I loved both of them and was happy with how I looked. Even though my bridesmaids were unable to get changed with me due to social distancing and mixing households, it all worked out fine. The morning was very chilled with just me, my mum and Maid of Honour."
"My wedding dress was from Dream Dress Bridal in Stockport. When I got my dress altered at Stockport Wedding Services I had to wear my mask which was perfectly fine and my mum was also able to attend. I was going to wear a plainer dress on the big day due to the numbers being smaller but I’m glad I didn’t now!"
"James purchased the suits from Kendals - House of Fraser. Apart from having to wear masks in the shop it was no different than usual. A special mention to Jay who was very helpful."
The Ceremony
"Our guests had to wear masks during the ceremony except for James & myself. The ceremony was slightly shorter than usual and we had just the one reading. After the ceremony all of our guests could remove their masks."
"Our flowers were purchased from Black Eyed Susie Floral Design. I was unable to meet Susie in person due to covid-19 but her communication was great during this difficult period and the flowers were perfect for the day. I loved my bouquet!"
Our Venue
"The venue were great and so were the catering company Top Table who I wanted to give a special mention to. I left the table numbers in my car which was at a hotel and they kindly offered to get them for me. It was such a kind thing to do and I was so grateful."
"We still had speeches from the Groom, Father of the Bride and the Best Man. The sun was out so we could do most things outside as well as our first dance. There was outdoor seating with fire pits, perfect to keep us warm when it got chilly at night. We were meant to have a DJ but they count in the guest numbers so we went without. The venue set up music outside for us and we created our own Spotify playlist."Â
Wedding Photography
"When it came to our wedding photography from Keyhole Studios, James and I felt very comfortable around Kris. We’re not the most affectionate couple but Kris was able to bring that out in us. We love our pictures and he captured very natural moments. It was the perfect coverage of the whole of wedding party and he made everyone feel at ease."
Our Special Day
"At first, the thought of having a smaller wedding made us feel apprehensive........ Would the day feel like a wedding? Would the guests enjoy it? Would other guests be annoyed if they weren't asked to attend? We had so many questions but having done it we would highly recommend a smaller wedding. The day was so calm and we were able to speak to everyone. It was great to have a day of celebration together as it’s been an awful year!"
"We were meant to have the big wedding but for us to get married was the most important thing. It’s been a stressful year for most couples as we all plan our weddings many years before the big day and save for it. The unknown of it all is so frustrating and I can sympathise with you all who have to make the difficult decision to go ahead with your wedding or not. We would have loved to have everyone there but we had the best day and we didn’t let Covid-19 ruin it for us."
