It’s something that we dont really shout about via Keyhole Studios, but something i feel is really important to tell you.
At times it can be frustrating seeing people start up a wedding film and photography company. It was only last week a newcomer to the industry undercut our prices to gain a job, someone with very little experience, no qualifications and equipment that is borderline consumer.
It can at times be hard for clients to see what the difference is between someone like Keyhole Studios and the chap who has a camera and loves filming his cat.
One of the key elements that sets us apart is experience. Our team are university graduates and we have spent years learning the skills we have. Now, that said i hold very little regard for university media degrees, but what i do hold in very high regard is experience. I have worked on television programmes, started at the very bottom of the ladder and worked my way up into a position i enjoy.
Image capture is my life and i have spent probably the past 18 years dedicated to improving and developing my skills, as have the members of our team.
So what kind of things do we shoot when we are not shooting weddings? Well, its not cats i can tell you that!
Most recently we have been involved in producing a Documentary called Looking For Lennon.
It’s a retrospective on the early life of John Lennon and was shot over an 8 month period.
Keyhole Studios provided camera, sound and facilities for the production and the final production had its cast and crew premier a couple of weeks ago. The documentary has international release and has already been screened at a number of film festivals around the world including New York and Cannes.
The filming of this documentary took place mainly in the Northwest, however there were other locations such as the filming of author and journalist Hunter Davis which took place down south.
Now i know a documentary about John Lennon has very little to do with your wedding day, but in such a saturated market place its good to know your in safe hands when it comes to your wedding.
When booking your film maker or photographer, make sure they have experience as this is the most important element to capturing images. If they dont have experience most likely their prices will be lower, as you are effectively paying for their training.
