Real Weddings : Cerys & Mike : Heaton House Farm : Liverpool Wedding Photography & Film

Updated: Sep 1, 2020

Cerys & Mikes wedding day at Heaton House Farm was a truly memorable occasion for all who had the pleasure of attending.

Bridal preparations began at home with Christopher Millea Hairdressing creating Cerys' elegant hairstyle and the supremely talented Tom Fraser and his assistants overseeing the make up

The wedding dress was purchased at Brides by Tina Louise and Cerys was high in praise for Natalia, Tina & Maria the seamstress. What a perfect dress it was with Cerys looking absolutely stunning! Cerys also grabbed herself an absolute bargain when it came to her wedding shoes from Debenhams which she purchased for £6.00 due to them having a mark on them. The girls from Brides by Tina Louise recommended she put lace on the shoes to cover it, and with the help of her mums handy skills, that was done the night before the big day. Who says you can't get a bargain for your wedding!

Mike and his Ushers were dressed in suits purchased from Next and for that extra touch of class he hired his waistcoat along with all the cravats and pocket squares from Larry Adams in West Kirby

Gaynor from Kingfisher Cakes was the creative genius behind the couples wedding cake and she had some lovely words to say about Heaton House Farm - ‘The venue is lovely and all the staff were amazing and very helpful. I got offered a drink about 5 times and without even asking they put a table out for me to work on. I go to a lot of venues and they haven’t even got the cake table out ready never mind giving me a spare table to work on and offers of help to carry stuff etc - best staff I’ve ever experienced xx’

With the help of staff at the venue, Cerys, Mike and their family set up the room the day before the wedding. They had purchased the majority of things themselves so had no need for a venue dresser. Cerys said "I would definitely recommend (if possible) to do a few bits yourself, it keeps the cost down massively. I was also on a local ‘Wirral weddings’ facebook page where bride and grooms sold items from their weddings"

"Our place cards were corks (bought 100 pre cut for £5) with a polaroid picture of Mike & myself with the guest, which we had been taking for the 18 months prior to the wedding and it meant they could then take that away and keep. Our table plan was a black board (£10) which I painted the wooden frame of and a family friend kindly wrote our table plan in chalk pen for us (also meant any last minute amendments or spelling mistakes are easily rectified!). Its so nice when we go round to peoples houses now and we see our ‘place cards’ still on peoples fire places"

This was a relaxed, intimate ceremony witnessed by the Bride & Grooms dearest friends and family who were present to watch Cerys and Mike say their vows and the exchanging of rings that were purchased from Fraser Bell Jewellers in West Kirby .

A special mention needs to go to the fabulous Flourish Flowers who are based in Prenton and they provided the beautiful bouquets and buttonholes. Evening entertainment was provided by the fantastic duo of Tequila who we have had the pleasure of working alongside many a time and these guys know how to keep everyone entertained!

Here's why the happy couple chose this idyllic setting for their special day -

"I had previously worked in a hotel for 7 years and I had seen so many weddings, churned out every weekend in the same function rooms that I just didn’t want to feel like I was back at my old job! We therefore wanted somewhere natural and preferably rural and independent.

We ideally wanted to get married outside but due to our not so reliable British weather, there is no guarantee at any time of year that storm Doris wont make an appearance! So we required a venue that had an alternative option if needed. We had had a look online and quite a lot of venues with a beautiful outside setting had a fairly rubbish plan b. The one thing we didn’t want to be doing is refreshing our weather app every hour for the 2 weeks running up to our day.

I had seen Heaton House Farm online and though it looked nice I wasn’t initially blown away by it so hadn’t booked in for a viewing. We had 2 show rounds at different venues booked in one Sunday and I saw that Heaton House Farm had an open day, so we decided to pop in while we were out and about. It is also worth noting that Mike was extremely hungover and not particularly looking forward to viewing potential venues on this particular day, especially when I threw a third option in all on the same day!  Thankfully for me and our future marriage, we arrived at Heaton House Farm first and as soon as we pulled up, I breathed a sigh of relief! It was exactly what we wanted and every aspect of the day had been thought of. The oak barn (our plan b) was simply beautiful.

The other thing we loved was that a lot of items were included as standard practice. Other venues were wanting to charge us for additional things such as different tables, linen, chairs, mirrored plates….. everything at an extra cost. With Heaton House Farm, a lot of items were included with the cost of hiring the venue. In addition, the bedrooms were located on site and with the large farmhouse style room available for breakfast the following morning, it meant that family staying elsewhere could come and join us.

The feeling of peace and tranquillity we got walking around the grounds when we got there, we knew it was the one…….I mean if it can cure a hangover then its got to be good!

We were honoured that Cerys & Mike chose us to be a part of their special day, as we covered their wedding photography and film in such a romantic and relaxed setting. We were able to capture all of their special moments, all of which they can relive time and time again.

Heres some excellent advice from Cerys - "Enjoy every moment, from the preparations to the day. Don’t waste time in sweating the small things, all that matters is standing up in front of a room of people that you love and care about and saying you want to be with your partner for the rest of your life. It’s a truly magical day. The one thing I would recommend to EVERYONE to do is get a video of the day. I think that and the wedding rings are two of the most important things. The wedding video may seem like a lot of money at the time but you have an everlasting memory of the day, and you truly do not notice the film crew doing their thing. They are so unobtrusive and blend into your day perfectly. Getting a live action retake of your day is completely priceless"
